Research & Resources

All of our work is deeply rooted in research - a lot of which we conduct ourselves. Over the past few years, we've led several Research and Development projects exploring neurodiversity in the workplace, identifying the existing barriers and creating meaningful resources to help tear these barriers down.

We use the evidence from our primary and secondary research, the expertise of our psychology and sociology consultants, the needs of the many businesses we've scoped and, most importantly, listening to the lived-experience of the 100s of neurodivergent and disabled contributors we've spoken to, to build impactful toolkits, training, and products that help address existing challenges to entering, remaining in, and thriving in workplaces and environments.

Exceptional Minds is a toolkit built to help businesses and employers in the media industry to better recruit, support, retain, and value neurodivergent talent - and help neurodivergent creatives better navigate our sometimes tricky sector.

Our research for this project tapped into the lived experience of 100s of neurodivergent individuals, the needs of many media businesses, and the expertise of our creative and psychology consultants.

Project aims:

  • To address existing stigmas and misconceptions around hidden differences

  • To advise and assist in creating more accessible work environments

  • To amplify neurodivergent voices within our industry

  • To evolve a legacy that ensures more diverse, inclusive, and equitable representation of these often forgotten populations, both in front and behind the camera

In addition to our creative work, Unquiet Media are also conducting a UKRI-funded research and development project, titled ‘EXCEPTIONAL MINDS’, aimed at researching the specific barriers faced by neurodivergent individuals within the creative industries and developing better practices to accomodate their needs.

Project aims:

  • to address existing stigmas and misconceptions around hidden differences

  • to advise and assist in creating more accessible work environments

  • to amplify neurodivergent voices within our industry

Using the evidence from our primary and secondary research, the expertise of our psychology and neuroscience consultants, the needs of the many businesses we’ve scoped, and, most importantly, listening to the voices of the 100’s of neurodivergent contributors we’ve spoken to, we are creating a suite of resources for the industry to help make workplaces more inclusive, accessible, and safer for all.
